What you cannot know is that she actually is Lady Dorotea, of the Roseflamme line, the Guardian of good manners at the Court of Feria and a matchless fencer. Ancient fairies and old prophets call her ‘The Keeper’, but only a few know what lies behind this title. Among the fairies, she is charming, well-mannered, ready to work for the good of the crown. Many people fear her; many people adore her.

He is Dorotea’s private servant; he is a trustful, virtuous, devoted servant, he feels a particular affection for her. The Capitaine is a brave gentleman, a bold pleasure seeker. His affection for Dorotea is not simply a tie of feudal allegiance, it’s obviously something much deeper. He lives with her and Enrico, to whom he soon becomes sword-master and trusted friend.
